Get Out and Call Me By Your Name win big at the WGAs

This weekend, we got more insight into the race for this year's best screenplays.

The Writers Guild of America held their award ceremony, and the two films that won big were Get Out and Call Me By Your Name.

We were already predicting that Call Me By Your Name would be the film to take home the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar on March 4th, and this just further asserts its chances. The gay romance that is one of the most acclaimed films of last year has four Oscar nominations, and its best bet of winning anything is in this category.

The Best Original Screenplay category still feels like one of the most unpredictable of the upcoming ceremony, but Jordan Peele's Get Out was the WGA winner. It seems like a tight race between Peele and Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird, two of the most beloved films of the year that had a strong Oscar showing, including Best Director nominations for both first-time filmmakers. Then there's also The Shape of Water, which could sweep on Oscar night. We'll find out on March 4th!
