Many would consider Elle Fanning the Queen of the indie world. She’s constantly making bold and exciting choices, and her latest venture certainly falls in suit. In Teen Spirit, she plays a shy teenager named Violet, who enters an American Idol-type singing competition and breaks out of her shell.

The film is an idealistic pop-dream, featuring music by the likes of Robyn, Ellie Goulding and Grimes. We caught up with Elle, writer/director Max Minghella, and co-star Zlatko Buric when they premiered the film at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. Watch the interview and see Teen Spirit at Cineplex theatres on April 19.

Teen Spirit is a great pick for fans of The Neon Demon, Begin Again and Vox Lux.

Teen Spirit is a modern-day Cinderella story.

Teen Spirit adds a pop music flair to the traditional rags-to-riches story. With colourful visuals, catchy tunes and great performances, this promises to be an uplifting time with friends at the movies.
